Ryan Dungey Ends The Streak

Ryan Dungey takes his first win of the season as Ryan Villopoto went down early in the race and was not able to make up the time lost.  Dungey's 3-1 finish on the day gives the 2012 series champ the overall win over Justin Barcia, who finishes 2-2.  Barcia took the Motorcycle Superstore Holeshot and held onto the lead for about half of the race, but Dungey was able to get by him for and build on his lead for the victory.

After an early crash, Villopto caught up to Stewart and challenged him for 5th

Villopoto got caught up on a turn behind Barcia which caused him to fall and lose his bike, allowing many riders to pass him and sending the unbeaten rider into 16th before he could get back on his bike.  Following a strong charge, he finished the day 1-4 but loses his first moto of the season.  Villopoto was outspoken all day about the challenges of the track and those challenges seemed to get the best of him as he took another fall late in the race, allowing Trey Canard and Mike Alessi to get by him.  RV2 made up some time and managed to take 4th with Canard narrowly beating him out for 3rd place by .2 seconds.  After a disappointing crash in Moto 1 from Canard, the Honda Muscle Milk rider came back strong to finish 3rd and beat out Villopoto for a spot on the podium, although RV2 would still land on the day's overall podium.

Canard would eventually get around Stewart

Mike Alessi (6-5) finished 5th in the moto and the overall, while James Stewart came in 6th after a 4th place finish in Moto 1.  Kevin Strijbos, Jake Weimer, Clement Desalle, and Andrew Short rounded out the top 10 in Moto 2.

Some of the top riders got tangled right out of the gate causing them to have a rough start including Phil Nicoletti, Ryan Sipes, Tyla Rattray, and Desalle.

Dungey halts Villopoto's win streaks (5 straight motos, 2 straight overalls)

The Built Ford Tough Tennessee National at Muddy Creek created some great story lines and should be a round that riders focus on each year because of the difficulty and unpredictable conditions of the track.
