Brochtrup Dominates in the Apple City

Nathan Brochtrup took out wins in both the Pro Lites and Pro Open Classes at the Stadium Motocross Event at Orange on a track that was very challenging. Dirt Bike Promotion's (DBP) second round of the coveted Stadium Motocross Series attracted around 280 riders and provided a mini Supercross style track.

Brothers Jacob and Todd Smith fought for podium positions in the Pro Open class with Jacob taking second and Todd finishing in third.

The Lites class offered plenty of action, and the second final of the day saw carnage on the second lap, with four of the front runners crashing through the woops, one of those being race leader Matt Cox (Beard Brothers) who broke a collar bone in the crash.

Brochtrup took first place in the Pro Lites, with John Prutti (Moss Institute) who rode consistent all day taking second and Aiden Stanford third. Brochtrup's speed, endurance and experience payed off, but he said the wins weren't easy, "the track was tough and I just kept it steady and on two wheels, the guys were battling it out pretty hard in the first couple of laps, so I thought I'll just stay back here and hope it sorts itself out and it did.

"I enjoyed the track there was a lot more dirt here than in the past, and the obstacles were bigger, it was more technically and it's separating the riders alot more, basically making it harder, especially with some of the younger fellows who ride better on technical tracks, said Brochtrup.

The Clubman 16 - U19 yrs was a tough class with riders duelling for podium positions over the three finals. Mitch Budd (Western Motorcycles) took the win over Joe Gillespie (Canberra Motorcycles) and Josh Melis (Gecko Motorcycles) took third position.

The final round of the series heads to Maitland Showgrounds on March 13th.
